About Spreading Smiles
Spreading Smiles is a non-profit organization composed of UC Davis students who are dedicated to improving the health (and thus the quality of life) of both our local and global communities.Many of our members are also members of the UC Davis Pre-Dental Society.
Among the service projects that we carry out each year is an expedition to Bolivia in order to improve people's dental and medical hygiene. Other service projects include teaching dental and medical knowledge to local schools to inspire younger students.
Though we are few, the lives that we change are healthier and they in turn can educate and uplift others.
Health Volunteers Overseas states, "Access to health care is fundamental to our quality of life" and, for the world's poorest, it is essential in the daily struggle for survival. Yet, three billion people live without basic health care services.
In all nations, human beings - physicians, nurses, dentists, physical therapists and other professionals - are the foundation of health care systems. The delivery of services pivots on the availability of these trained professionals to provide care."
